This is my new project… well projects, ad infinitum.
I’m determined to write more. I’m determined to do more work without relying on others. I’m determined to share more of my work. Hence why I’ve started #startthedaywrite, as every morning I’ll do just that - I’ll write.
But wait, there’s more!
In an effort to make it more interesting and varied, everyday I’ll be using a different piece of artwork as inspiration. Which I guess is one way of working with others, but not being beholden to them in order to get something out. Currently I don’t have any requirements beyond that. There’s no length, genre, topics, or medium presets, since I like writing a range of stuff.
The only real requirement is that I share the artwork and give the appropriate credit to the artist to highlight their work. I’m not making any money off what I’m writing so the best I can do is direct people to the artist that inspired me. Most of whom I expect to find on Artstation.
I’ll publish each piece I write, though only five days a week, even if I do write everyday. In part so I build up a backlog of stuff, but also because I don’t want to get to focused on getting things up and out. It’s the writing that’s important after all. What goes up also won’t be edited, beyond what occurs when I put it online.
Editing is vital to everything. But part of the idea of #startthedaywrite is to get writing. Editing can come later. And this is also about generating new ideas and getting writing. Since it’s my job to write getting to work can take some effort, so this is a great way for me to get my creativity flowing… or to get into the creative flow.
I may even stream some of my writing over on my Twitch channel. So check Twitter for any announcements. I also encourage you to do the same - not necessarily stream your writing - but writing something new everyday based on a new piece of art. So join me in using #startthedaywrite!
