Gaze And Ponder
I come here for my walk. It’s one of the few places that they let me go. Why they trust me here and not else where I don’t know. If I were truly motivated I would have found a way past them. But here I come everyday regardless.
Maybe it’s to dream of the freedom that I don’t actually seek. Maybe it’s something darker. Humanity has always seen a lot in water. We’ve used it as a mirror, a road, a god, a home. But for me it’s an expanse. It’s a place that for all appearances in untouched by those behind me.
I don’t ascribe any sentience or notion of control to the sea. It’s just as subject to other forces as I am, but in turn it has an impact on others. I wish was there.
And then the bell rings and takes me out of my reverie. I shiver and my teeth begin to chatter. I’ve sat here longer than I than I thought. Standing up is a strain, my knees creek and my ankle pops.
Turning my back on the sea I finally hear something from it. A wave crashes on the shore, tossing new pebbles for me to explore. But later.
