Home system was such a relief. Not just because Shani could finally get a good noodle fry pie. That was first on her list of stops, even before she made her delivery. It was the lack of quarantine, customs, and other procedures required upon entry. She could land the Allegory’s Sentry and be at the bar in a matter of minutes.
Core-ward it was different. She could spend days just getting through the processing. And it only got worse on the city-worlds. They were so paranoid about everything coming in that every ship had to go through a disinfectant process, regardless of if they’d never made planetfall. It never made any sense to Shani, given all life was pretty well replaced by that of society and its constructs.
She loved traveling to the wilder planets. Not just cause they forgo any attempt at control, but because she could see something unique. Without the need for a guide, or permission. She could park the Sentry where she wanted and just watch the world continue without her. Shani used to do that upon her first few trips out of the system, but now Home it was always just about the food.
So much so that she often did an abbreviated post-flight check. The systems were solid and never gave her much trouble. Not when they knew she had a noodle fry pie waiting.
