Future Idols

Future Idols

The stone radiated calm against Duaa’s forehead. Her prayers were more meditations on the day before and the one to come. Pressed as she was to the floor she was able to relax and find solace in the simple action of supplication. She found guidance through her rituals, as guidance came to her.

Duaa breathed in and held it for a count. Then out for a count. She kept her head to the stone accepting its transfer as she did everyday, and welcoming the energy it provided. Some on her home spoke with minor annoyance at the need to pray so often, but Duaa welcomed the opportunity to commune.

Aishai smiled upon Duaa in return.  The ship was not meant to have favorites but still it doted on Duaa. Her prayers were not of necessity but curiosity and Aishai enjoyed the moments that two could converse.

Today’s concerns were towards the ship’s selection of flora. Duaa asked - why include mistletoe when it necessitated drawing from other plants. Aishai replied simply - we like it. And with that sent Duaa on her way.

Duaa rose, put away her stone and set off for breakfast.
