One Game Dad 46: One Year In

One Game Dad 46: One Year In

It’s been a year. A year of One Game Dad.

Actually it’s been longer than that but the date slipped by me and there was little point in trying to celebrate at 50 or 52 episodes like most shows do. So I chose something different. And different is me playing the same game again - in this case Slay The Spire.

These episodes aren’t terribly exciting or insightful. Hell most of the time they’re silence, but I don’t see any of that as a bad thing. It’s all just practice and me showcasing how bad I am at doing two things at once. And yet I keep thinking about adding more to my plate.

The inevitable bout of procrastination, or laziness has kept me from starting anything new. But it could also be because I don’t have any exciting ideas that I want to work on. I have plenty of ideas, but nothing in a new or different mediums that I think is worth my time yet. I toy with doing more game design and development but that requires coding to some degree.

While great, coding is still writing but it isn’t helping me with writing. And the turn around time right now for a project for me is quite slow, especially in something so tech heavy. Podcasts I have down. But even in writing novels, short stories, etc. I should be finishing more.

Speaking of finishing more, I’ve been reading some novellas of late and there’s a lot to say for the form. The speed at which everything is accomplished is great. There’s no extra faff, fluff or fat. It’s slim and trim and moves at a great pace. That is if you’re reading something by Matt Wallace, like I am. It’s definitely something I want to experiment with, now if only I had an idea that fit that form.

This week I was back at Slay The Spire since I was recording from the office. You can find this episode on TwitchYoutubeStitcheriHeartRadio and iTunes. This podcast is hosted by the Third Culture Kids network.
